In accordance with the Company Act 2063, Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was registered as a public limited company at the Registrar of Companies Office of the Government of Nepal dated 2070/09/17. According to the Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 2073, after receiving a license from the Nepal Rastra Bank on 13/06/2071 and approval to do business from the Office of the Company Registrar on 2071/07/21, it has been formally doing microfinance business since 21/07/2017. This institution, approved by Nepal Rastra Bank, has been providing banking services through microfinance to poor and needy families through 82 branches in 28 districts. The registered central office of the organization is at Siddharthnagar Municipality-12, Rupandehi and the regional office is at Hariwan Sarlahi.The districts served are Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu, Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi, Mustang, Pyuthan, Kaski, Surkhet, Rolpa, Salyan, Syangja, Dhanusha, Sirha, Saptari, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, Rautahat, Banke. , Bardia, Dang, Kailali and Kanchanpur.The main function of this institution is microfinance transactions. As a micro finance institution, the USLB will be working continuously with the prime objectives of financial access and financial inclusion, hardship and suffering of the low income people throughout its working area by providing them micro finance services. The unique traits of institution are well defined target group (especially women), area approach, group based lending, collateral lending etc. Its main financial sources are individual member’s savings, group savings, borrowings from financial institutions and shareholders’ equity.In order to achieve its goal, USLB will be working through micro credit services and capacity development program for the community. Moreover, it has followed the Grameen Bank Model started by Prof. Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh.
